馬英九先生親自感謝林啟生同志 致力於兩岸城市交流，本會秘書長林啟生暨兩岸事務委員會主任委員，擔任經濟部國貿局會展產業推動委員會委員，以及中華民國展覽推廣協會秘書長，致力於兩岸事務合作之推動。

為了加強兩岸間友好城市的溝通，展示中國改革開放的新形象，落實城市之間的合作交流，成立了『中華友好城市交流協會』，並透過兩岸城市所聯合舉辦的【華夏城市論壇】，期盼能夠促進兩岸城市間經濟的發展，加快城市間的建設以及雙方交流步伐。 　　

兩岸友好城市透過舉辦『友好市長高峰會』、『城鄉發展論壇』、『中小企業博覽會』、『城市建設開發博覽會』、『最佳商業城市頒獎活動』、『最佳城市文化藝術之旅』、『兩岸友好城市美食節』、『友好城市小姐選拔活動』等系列活動，建立起城市與城市之間的友誼橋樑。
